Art Boxes

Each year, the Charles County Arts Alliance (CCAA) prepares a large number of “Back to School” Art Boxes and donates these boxes to the Charles County Children’s Aid Society for distribution at the beginning of the school year to needy elementary school children in our county. These art boxes are plastic containers filled with art supplies such as crayons, colored pencils, erasers, scissors, school glue bottles, glue sticks and #2 pencils, to ensure that these young students get a great “head start in art” in the coming school year.

Each summer, the Alliance shops for deeply discounted and donated art supplies, and then creates an assembly-line production team to stuff these art boxes as full as humanly possible! This year,  the CCAA assembled 528 art boxes that were placed in backpacks by the Children’s Aid Society for distribution to K through 3rd grade school children  in Charles County, MD.

The Arts Alliance is especially grateful for the generous $1000 grant received from the La Plata Walmart, and $500 donations each from the La Plata Lions Club and Rotary of La Plata.  Their contributions made it possible to provide 128 more boxes than last year!
