Charles County Fair
The Charles County Arts Alliance (CCAA) has been an active participant in the Charles County Fair for the past two decades! Our volunteers assist in managing and supervising the P.D. Brown Fine Arts Building at the annual Charles County Fair held in September. It is the largest outdoor event in our county, and attendance typically runs from 40,000 – 50,000 people over the four days of the Fair.
Over 400 visual artworks are exhibited and judged each year in the P.D. Brown Building. In addition, the CCAA provides financial support for the wide variety of musical entertainment presented on several stages at the Fair each year. In recent years, we have also sponsored our own candidate for Queen Nicotina, the fair queen, and in 2012, we were thrilled that our candidate, Ms. Amber Rabie, won! Also in the P.D. Brown Building, we have CCAA information tables on display, and hand out large numbers of “arts bags” stuffed with brochures, flyers, business cards and promotional items representing arts organizations, arts businesses, and individual artists in Charles County – all in an effort to spread the word far and wide that “the arts are alive” in Charles County!
